In 2015, I stopped making New Year's resolutions and decided to accept the One Word challenge. Instead of making a long list of goals each year, now I pick one word to focus on. It has made such a positive impact in my life, so every December I start thinking and praying about what my one word will be for the next year. Here are my words from previous years: 2015: Obey 2016: Share 2017: Look 2018: Connect In 2018, I wanted to be more intentional to connect with God and the people around me. Not only did I accomplish a life-long goal of reading through the entire Bible in a year (thanks to The Bible Project and the Read Scripture app), but several friendships have become stronger. My faith and my friendships deepened in 2018 because of intentional connection. My One Word for 2019 is Contentment. To me, contentment is having gratitude, satisfaction, and peace no matter the circumstance. My natural inclination is to compare myself and my life to others, but comparison usually leads to disappointment. So this year, I want to focus on being content with what God has given me. I want to give thanks to Him throughout the day…to acknowledge the BIG and little ways that He provides for my needs. And when my circumstances don’t match what I envisioned them to be, I still want to look for things to be thankful for….trusting that God’s plan is better than my plan. Since I believe that true contentment comes from God, it will be important for me to continue reading His word each day. Because of this, I plan to use the Read Scripture app again to re-read the Bible. In 2019, I choose Contentment. What word are you going to focus on this year? P.S. In the past, I have put my One Word on a bracelet. Seeing my word every day helped me to focus on it. You can order a custom bracelet from Mud Love by clicking HERE. Here's my bracelet for this year (I shortened my word so it would fit better on the bracelet):
