Valentine’s Day. A holiday that celebrates love. You know what I love? The day AFTER Valentine’s Day when all of the chocolate is on sale. If you’re in a relationship, you probably look forward to Valentine’s Day. For those of us who are single, it’s often referred to as “Singleness Awareness Day.” I don’t need a special day to remind me that I’m single (that already happens most days), but during the month of February, singleness is often magnified. I never expected to be single in my mid-30’s. It isn’t easy. I still desire to be a wife and a mother one day, but God has used this time as a single adult to teach me a few things. Here are 3 truths all singles should remember…. 1. A significant other does not determine your significance.
2. You deserve to be with someone who treats you with respect.
3. Instead of waiting to fall in love, go and BE love.
I highly recommend these two books. Bob Goff gives great examples of what it looks like to love others in our everyday lives. To read more about Singleness, check out my blog series: The Single Life – Part I The Single Life – Part II
